Sturdy enough for an expensive large monitor in portrait

Pros:-Thick gauge metal-You can unscrew the over-designed, un-level plastic pieces from the feet, leaving level, black matte metal, and that allows your monitor to get closer to the desk surface. If, however, you need to pivot your monitor in such a way that it does not rest upon both feet, you might need to get creative with shims, or, become draconian with the articulation bolts (which I will not do).Cons:-This isn't really a con, because physics, but the mass and gauge of the articulations are not so great that your massive 31 inch monitor in landscape won't sag. I do not even attempt to put my 31 inch monitor in landscape: I bought this stand expressly so I could get a 31 inch monitor in portrait. Not a con, just physics.-This isn't a con, because quality manufacture, but the assembly process goes best when you pre-apply the fresh bolts to the fresh holes. The factory paint adds just enough thickness that if you're trying to assembly it without any pre-fitting, you will possibly make an incorrect assumption that you just cross threaded a bolt, or, that a bolt hole is wrongly machined, etc. Take the time, put the bolts in to their deepest setting, take them out, then assemble. You'll appreciate the rock solid snugness.-This isn't really a con, and more of a mere misfortune, but you cannot easily set two of these side by side, with their monitors in portrait, and expect the feet to not conflict. You *can get two 31 inch monitors to sit side by side in portrait (e.g. for programming), but the feet will jut into your keyboard space, and the articulations to the monitors will need to be cranked down tightly (or, like me, use shims).

Great stand

Overall, I love the stand. Just kind of bummed that I can't use the headphone holder because the screw holes doesn't match up. Manufacturer defect.

Strong, sturdy with plenty of height adjustment but has a huge base

The stand is good quality, holds the monitor very sturdily. Also can adjust pretty high and rotate on all 3 axes which was really important to me, pretty much the whole reason I bought it. However, the foot of the base is really big which made my desk setup somewhat inconvenient.
